City of Vancouver’s department Board of Parks and Recreation is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Cashier receptionist. City of Vancouver’s department Board of Parks and Recreation manages public parks and recreational facilities. Specializing in park planning, it ensures accessible green spaces and recreational opportunities. Through community engagement, the board enhances Vancouver’s livability, solidifying its role in promoting a vibrant urban environment. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Completion of Grade 11 or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Experience: Candidates should have some experience in a capacity dealing with the public and some cashiering experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to receive payments, make change, issue tickets, receipts, and reimbursements, balance cash, and prepare cash reports and floats
  • The candidates should have the ability to deal with the public in a courteous and effective manner
  • The candidates should have the ability to maintain minor clerical records, compile non-complex statistical data, and perform incidental word processing tasks related to the work

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of the recreation programs and services provided, as well as the practices, regulations, and procedures applicable to the work
  • The candidates should possess a working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and have some knowledge of cashiering methods and practices
  • The candidates should have the ability to operate common office equipment, including a computer terminal and related office application software, such as MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of recreation software, including POS and Photo ID systems, which is desired
  • The candidates should be able to assist and orient other staff

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to serve as the first point of contact for all patrons and effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot issues and solve problems efficiently
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a friendly and courteous demeanor, promoting an inclusive recreation environment for all patrons
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate strong teamwork skills, providing support to peers to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all
