Wawota & Community Early Learning Center based in Wawota, SK is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Early childhood educator (ECE). Wawota & Community Early Learning Center is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for young learners. With a comprehensive curriculum, the center focuses on fostering cognitive and social development through interactive and age-appropriate activities. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Shifts: Day, Evening, Shift, Overtime, Flexible Hours, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Valid driver’s licence
Work setting: Child care centre, Rural area, Before and after school programs, Relocation costs not covered by employer, and Willing to relocate
Supervision: 1 to 2 people and 16-20 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as Other trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Area of specialization: Children
Experience with special needs children: Children who are blind or visually impaired, Children with a mental health disability, Children with a physical disability, Children with an intellectual disability, Children with behavioural issues, Children with allergies, Children with asthma, Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD), Children with a genetic disorder, Autistic children
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), Child development supervisor (ECE level 3), Child development worker (ECE level 2), Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, Child welfare check, Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and be adaptable to noisy environments
  • The candidates should be non-smokers and be able to work in air-conditioned spaces
  • The candidates should be accustomed to performing repetitive tasks, demonstrating a consistent ability to handle routine duties
  • The candidates should have a keen attention to detail, ensuring precision in their work
  • The candidates should be adaptable to a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, maintaining flexibility in their work environment
  • The candidates should be comfortable with bending, crouching, and kneeling as needed for the tasks at hand
  • The candidates should possess manual dexterity, allowing them to proficiently handle various tasks requiring precision and skill

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings, discussing progress and problems of children, fostering a collaborative and communicative work environment
  • The candidates should be able to engage children in various activities, including telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts to promote their creativity
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities such as storytelling, capturing children’s interest, and fostering language development in a childcare setting
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, discussing progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants, ensuring effective teamwork
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behavior, creating a structured and positive atmosphere for children
  • The candidates should have knowledge of licensing regulations, ensuring compliance with established standards
  • The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, ensuring a safe and clean environment
