Michener Park Education Society based in Edmonton, AB is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Early childhood educator – preschool. Michener Park Education Society provides early larning and child care services for children ages infant to five years. We also provides as a practical and observation setting for post-secondary students from various colleges (Norquest, CDI) and Universities (U of A, MacEwen). We are known to provide satisfaction to our customers, that they don’t have to go to any one else after getting the best services from us. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $17.76 to $20.33 hourly for 37.5 hours per week
Employment Type: Full time
Location: LocationThe Child Care Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2E1
Shifts: Day and Shift
Work Setting: Child care centre and urban area
Work Site Environment: Candidates should work in air conditioned area
Security and Safety: Criminal record should checked and vulnerable sector checked

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided.
Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses: Candidates must have Child development assistant (ECE level 1) and Emergency child care first aid and CPR

Physical Requirements

  • The candidate should be able to perform repetitive tasks
  • The candidate should be physically strong
  • The candidate should be able to pay attention to detail
  • The candidate should be a combination of sitting, standing, walking
  • The candidate should be able to manually dexter
  • The candidate should be able for bending, crouching, kneeling

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • The candidate should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidate should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  • The candidate should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
  • The candidate should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • The candidate should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • The candidate should be able to knowledge of Day Nurseries Act
  • The candidate should be able to knowledge of licensing regulations
  • The candidate should be able to establish guidelines for behaviour
  • The candidate should be able to assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • The candidate should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidate should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • The candidate should be able to provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
