Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a High School Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have three to five years of experience operating a Face Shovel, preferably in an open pit mine

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work a rotation of 7 days on and 7 off, or 14 days on and 14 days off, with 12-hour days
  • The candidates should be prepared for work hours that may vary with the needs of the company, beyond the assigned schedule
  • The candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance during extended shifts
  • The candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity
  • The candidates should be self-motivated with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines
  • The candidates should be willing to work at the Magino Mine, located approximately 88 kilometers northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have or GED equivalent, possess a valid G class driver’s license and strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate clearly and and promote Health and Safety practices
  • The candidates should be aware that Magino promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace, with a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to practice safe work behaviors and support the Magino safety culture through participation in daily and monthly safety meetings
  • The candidates should be able to safely operate face shovels, as well as other assigned equipment, to meet daily plan and operation targets
  • The candidates should be able to effectively communicate using a 2-way radio system and maintain equipment integrity
  • The candidates should be able to complete risk assessments prior to each task and meet planned targets on a shift-by-shift basis
  • The candidates should be able to perform pre-operations and post-operations circle checks and complete equipment logbooks
