Position Summary

The IT communications specialist helps the IT Department deliver clear,
engaging, and effective communication to internal and external audiences. Reporting to the Director of Communications & Organizational
Change Lead, the position will work closely with IT leadership and project teams to create and disseminate a variety of messaging from
emails to web to social media and beyond. The successful candidate will also support the development and implementation of communication
plans and strategies for IT initiatives and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate
    with IT leadership and project teams to understand their communication needs and objectives and provide creative and effective
    solutions.
  • Assist with the development and execution of communication plans and strategies for IT initiatives and programs, such as
    change management, employee engagement, recognition, etc.
  • Manage and develop website content for the IT
    department.
  • Contribute to IT’s social media strategy, optimizing website content and developing communications that resonate with
    diverse audiences.
  • Write, edit, and proofread communication materials, such as emails, newsletters, articles, blogs, presentations,
    infographics, videos, etc.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment of messaging across all IT communication channels and
    platforms.
  • Measure and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication activities and provide feedback and recommendations
    for improvement.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in IT communication and apply them to your
    work.
  • Organize, plan and support events as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, or a
    related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in communications or in a similar role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading
    skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of communication principles, methods, and
    techniques.
  • Proficient in using various communication tools and platforms, such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, WordPress, Adobe
    Creative Suite, social media, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high degree of initiative, creativity,
    and flexibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to
    communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred
Qualifications

  • Prior experience managing a complex website(s) using a content management system
    (Cascade).
  • Broad knowledge of communications strategies executed through electronic and online media.
  • Advanced software
    skills in web design, including website analytics and search engine optimization.
  • Experience working in a higher education
    technology organization and familiarity with IT terminology and concepts.
  • Familiarity with graphic design principles, photography,
    and/or videography skills.

$45,000-$55,000
