Faculty of Medical Sciences
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess:
1. MD/DM in Community Medicine or equivalent with Residency in Public Health (from the U.S.A) or a CCT in Public Health (from the U.K)
OR
2. DrPH or PhD in Public Health or Community Health, Community Medicine or a closely related field
Candidates should also possess:
- Good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
- Considerable teaching experience in Public Health
- Proficiency in curriculum development
- Evidence of supervising and conducting research in Public Health
- Competence in Communicable Disease, Chronic Non-Communicable Disease, Health Promotion, Monitoring and Evaluation and Epidemiology
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Fellowship certification in Public Health
- Practical experience in strategic curriculum development of postgraduate programmes and training for future public health professionals
- Graduate teaching experience in Public Health
- Professional and research experience, post-MPH Degree in the Public Health field
The following would be considered assets:
- MBBS
- Certificate in university teaching and learning
- Familiarity with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) system
- Blended teaching and learning
- Proficiency in writing research grants and attract funding
