We are looking for a dynamic individual with exceptional leadership skills to oversee the City’s Facilities Division in this regular full-time exempt role.
 
Reporting to the Director, Engineering, Parks and Environment, your areas of responsibility will focus on asset management of civic facilities including planning, maintenance and operations of civic buildings and associated grounds; space planning and security; as well as all aspects of capital project delivery.  Specifically, you will:

  • Lead the City’s process for long range asset management of the City’s civic facility portfolio including assessing facility condition and advancing capital financing models to sustain desired service levels;
  • Collaborate with other City departments to help manage the City’s properties and real estate holdings, and advise on facilities-related aspects of strategic land acquisition, development, and disposition;
  • Lead the planning, design, renovation and redevelopment of civic facilities, including participation in the construction, commissioning and operational planning of new and renovated facilities;
  • Lead the City’s planning and evaluation of building programming including enabling public access to City services, efficient and effective staff work space, addressing security through physical and operational process review;
  • Develop and oversee planning, maintenance, operation and safety/security programs and services for City facilities and properties, ensuring compliance with custodial, building maintenance, and regulatory requirements and standards;
  • Develop and monitor the Division’s capital and operating budgets, adhering to the City’s financial policies and procedures.

As a key member of the City’s management team, you will participate in various management meetings and committees, including City Council and senior management, and liaise with external agencies.  Your direct reports will include both exempt and bargaining unit staff.
 
You will possess an undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant discipline (such as Mechanical Engineering, Building Sciences, or Architecture), project management experience and/or certification, and have a minimum of five years related management experience, preferably in a public sector environment.  We are seeking applicants with excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, budget and organizational skills.  
 
During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).
 
We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule.  The salary range is: $134,988 to $158,808 (2024 rates).
