Job Description


Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications (MarCom), this individual will develop, write and produce compelling content that
will capture the University story for all marketing platforms (web sites, print publications, ads, social media, newsletters, campaigns,
brochures, etc.) This is a full-time, salaried position that includes full benefits and a monthly cell allowance. Adhering to the
University’s brand guidelines, this individual must have the ability to write (and shoot) content that engages all University
constituencies (prospective and current students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and other partners of the University). In
addition to writing, this individual may be called on to produce compelling imagery (photo and video) alongside our Digital Media
Coordinator to be utilized across platforms mentioned.

Core Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Supply (daily) engaging stories for University constituents for all marketing platforms.
  • Must be able to concept, write, and
    produce imagery (photo/video) at a high level, to engage all audiences (internal and external).
  • Should have a firm understanding of
    producing content for optimal SEO results.
  • Must be creative and timely, producing meaningful content with impact.
  • Will
    need to work well with — and understand perspectives of — all constituents (from students to faculty to donors)
  • Will need to
    research, gather data, and conduct interviews necessary for compelling content.
  • Will work alongside graphic designers, editors, web
    and social media coordinators/directors
  • Should have working knowledge of AP style and ability to edit to that and University
    styles/brands.
  • Will work on developing and supplying content for all publications (enrollment, alumni, departmental) and
    campaigns.
  • Will have opportunity to mentor student workers/writers, serve on University task forces or committees as directed, and
    perform all other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • College degree in journalism, mass
    communications, marketing or related discipline
  • Minimum of three years of professional writing experience in both print and digital
    (portfolio samples required).
  • Experience shooting photography/videography (samples required) for print and social media
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator) and video editing software (Final Cut Pro) preferred.
  • Experience in the higher-ed environment is a plus.
