Shift

8:00am – 5:00pm (Monday – Friday)

Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors requiring night(s), weekend(s), and/or holiday(s) response.

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Recycling/Waste Reduction Specialist Senior, this position produces high-quality output for Facilities Management – Recycling Operations, including updating existing material, generating novel work, and identifying new ways to reach consumers; Demonstrates active participation in shaping Recycling Operations’ stylistic guidelines; Proposes, plans, and creates graphics to communicate recycling, waste diversion, and other zero-waste management messages for promotional and outreach efforts, including flyers, web pages, social media, and merchandise; Assists in the creative design of promotional materials; Coordinates and/or conducts photo shoots to be used as content on social media, webpages, reports, etc.; Proposes, plans, and creates videos on zero-waste topics; Participates in creating and implementing communication and outreach initiatives and campaigns; Assists in outreach opportunities, including tabling; Staff Appreciation Day, and other celebrations; Assists in the preparation and creation of reports and articles; Identifies communication needs in relation to the University’s Zero-Waste Goals and creates content focused on those needs.

In addition, the Content Creator utilizes social media to engage consumers, respond to questions or complaints, and to promote recycling operations initiatives; Writes, reviews, edits, and updates content for websites; and conducts keyword research and employs Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques to optimize website content and increase site traffic; Contextualizing findings. Monitors, analyses, and reports on web performance.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

MS Windows/Office;

Driver’s License – Preferred

Ability to produce entertaining or educational material for digital media and offline content that engages new and existing customers; Ability to blend client’s content guidelines with one’s creativity and curiosity utilizing various content types; Analyses web traffic to measure the success of the content.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree – English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
