The City of Pitt Meadows is recruiting an Operations Supervisor to oversee the technical work in our Public Works Yard. The Operations Supervisor holds responsibility for overseeing infrastructure operations, encompassing Water and Sewer Utilities, Roads, Dikes, and Drainage within the Public Works department. We are seeking an individual with considerable supervisory experience in a municipal context, robust organizational and communication skills, and technical proficiency in utility maintenance. Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the incumbent will lead municipal employees and contractors, manage diverse physical and administrative tasks, engage with internal and external stakeholders, participate in meetings, and provide recommendations to senior management relevant to the position. The role also involves responding to emergency calls outside regular hours to ensure community safety.
 
A crucial component of the position is the oversight of the Operations team and contractors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate significant independent judgment in executing and delegating tasks, covering planning, scheduling, assigning, supervising, and evaluating assignments related to municipal infrastructure.
 
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with potential consideration for a compressed workweek schedule. Depending on operational needs, there may be opportunities for scheduled overtime.
 
Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by a Diploma in a field related to the work.
• Considerable related experience, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Considerable knowledge relating to the maintenance and construction of roads, sidewalks, dikes and drainage, waterworks, sanitary and storm systems, and/or other municipal services.
• EOCP Waste Water Collection – Level II.
• EOCP Waste Water Distribution – Level II.
• Unrestricted Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Endorsement for the Province of British Columbia.
• Experience working in a municipal or government environment will be considered an asset.
