PARK ATTENDANTS – EVENING WASTE COLLECTION

(Temporary, Full-Time)

The West Vancouver Parks Department accepting applications for a temporary full-time Park Attendant to work in Waste Collection. The primary duty of this position will be litter and garbage pick-up in various District Parks. The successful candidate will be required to work evenings and weekends.

The work for this position is considered manual work, requiring effort and stamina. The successful candidates may also be required to assist staff with: park construction; maintaining playgrounds, sports fields, and grass areas; horticulture; cemetery duties; and other related duties as operationally required.

Applicants must have:
Experience with operating trucks;

  •   The ability to deal with the public in a courteous and effective manner.
  •   Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of manual outdoor work in all types of weather;
  •   General knowledge concerning safe use of landscape maintenance equipment and tools
  •   An aptitude/interest in Parks operations; and,
  •   Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC.

During the assessment process, successful candidates will be required to submit an acceptable Driver’s Abstract from ICBC.

The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:
Union (WVMEA) / Temporary Full-Time

Hours of Work:
40 hours per week (Days of work for this position may include weekends) and hours will be 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Starting Rate of Pay:
$29.84 plus 14% in lieu of benefits
(This position has a pay structure with three steps which increase after certain hours.)
