OmniSOC Background:
OmniSOC is a security operations center hosted at Indiana
University which provides monitoring and security operations services to US-based higher education institutions, research and education
networks, and NSF-funded research facilities. Our teams work together to deliver high-quality, timely service to our membership. Our success
is dependent upon our teams working in a collaborative, highly organized and efficient manner, this position will work across all OmniSOC
teams to ensure access to secure computing endpoints and IT resources.

Job Summary
OmniSOC is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled individual for a part-time hourly
IT User Support Specialist position. This individual must have the drive to: stay atop IT hardware and software trends, strengthen existing
skills and learn new ones. This individual will provide IT support for OmniSOC staff¿s endpoints (desktops, laptops, mobile devices and
other IT devices), assist staff with IT related issues and assist with other general IT tasks internal to OmniSOC. This position will have
time to cross train with the OmniSOC analysis, platform and services teams to provide career advancement opportunities.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Maintains a fleet of OmniSOC endpoints in a standard and secure state
- Technical
guidance and complex tasks including administration of devices running Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems (OS). - Develops and
maintains activities to deploy, configure and maintain computing devices used by OmniSOC staff: - Work with OmniSOC’s internal
security team to establish secure baseline deployment ¿images¿ for each OS - Builds and configures new machines to
standard - Maintains the inventory of OmniSOC staff equipment; including Move/Add/Change processes for endpoints and
peripherals - Responsible for working with staff on equipment procurement using the Move/Add/Change Process
- Ensures
vulnerability management process is completed regularly for OmniSOC endpoints. - Responds to IT trouble ticket requests for OmniSOC
staff - General IT consulting for OmniSOC staff
- Assists other OmniSOC teams in maintaining IT
infrastructure: - Maintains the OmniSOC Active Directory (AD) Organizational Unit (OU), and Group Policy Objects
(GPO) - Maintains the OmniSOC IT People Page
- Assists OmniSOC’s Business Development team to maintain the OmniSOC website and
communications systems. - Manages IU provided Endpoint Management and Monitoring Services
- Provides support for OmniSOC Events
as needed - Contributes to development and operations projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- General knowledge at the high school
level
Preferred
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field
WORK
EXPERIENCE
Required
- 1 year of general IT support experience
Preferred
- 2 years of experience with general IT support.
- Technical knowledge backed by a minimum of
2 years of experience in IT support of endpoints devices running the Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux Operating Systems
(OS). - Experience working with Indiana University Enterprise systems. Specifically those used to support It resource users,
endpoints, and endpoint management.

/ Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office
productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. The person in this role will be
expected to be able to: communicate in person and remotely via text, bend, reach, kneel, and pull and manipulate, lift and carry loads up to

Scope and Impact
This position will directly support OmniSOC staff and
track and maintain staff IT equipment and the infrastructure used to maintain it. This support enhances OmniSOC’s staff’s ability to
effectively complete the organization’s mission: to provide monitoring and security operations services to US-based higher education
institutions, research and education networks, and NSF-funded research facilities.
Level of Decision Making
This position will have a moderate degree of general direct supervision and oversight of their duties. The IT User Support Specialist is
expected to make decisions on technical tasks on a daily basis with limited supervision. The IT User Support Specialist is expected to
prioritize and coordinate tasks with team members and OmniSOC leadership in order to meet project deadlines and deliverables.

Work Location
Bloomington, Indiana
This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between
remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs. A minimum of 50% of time must be
spent at the OmniSOC’s offices.
Advertised Salary
Hourly rate: $18 – $21 per hour, dependent on level of experience
and demonstrated knowledge and ability.
Work Hours
20 to 29 hours per week.
