Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Intelligent Transportation System Engineer to be a Remote Position based in the United States.

We are actively seeking a self-motivated, ITS Engineer with a desire for data analytics, traffic operations, and research of emerging technologies and processes for immediate employment within our Transportation Department. The position provides the opportunity to work on exciting, challenging, and high-profile transportation operations projects.

The ITS Engineer will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and visualizing data for use in transportation and traffic systems and applications, researching state of the practices and innovative practices for various transportation engineering topics, writing technical reports. Join a team of experienced transportation operations experts to develop innovative solutions applying new and emerging technology to transportation.

Job Functions Include:

  • Work on a wide range of ITS related project, including research, emerging technologies, and ITS deployments.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and modeling transportation data from multiple sources, including spatial and non-spatial data for reporting and visualization to develop detailed processes and products that are creative and easy to consume in different applications.
  • Develop presentations to internal and external customers.
  • Performance measure research, development and maintenance for both roadway performance and operational performance.
  • Preparation of weekly, quarterly and annual performance measure reports.
  • Conduct literature reviews and develop surveys to determine state of the practice, best practices, and innovative practices for various transportation topics to determine recommendation for clients.
  • Assist in data development, integration, integrity, and quality assurance activities
  • Development of custom tools (conceptual, front end, and/or backend)
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by AECOM

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • ​Bachelor’s college degree in Civil Engineering, or other related field with an emphasis in traffic or transportation or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and meet task deadlines
  • Adaptable and flexible to various projects
  • Thinks creatively and proactively uses technology and software solutions to make operations more efficient
  • Technical writing
  • Microsoft Software (Excel, Access, SharePoint, Teams, other)
  • Geospatial Software (ArcGIS, QGIS, CAD, other)
  • Business Intelligence Software (PowerBI, Tableau, other)
  • Programming Languages (R, Python, C++, Javascript, SQL, other)

Additional Information

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $76,000 – $140,000.
