As Production Manager, you will be responsible for producing episodic original content for Mercari US. You will drive day to day production of marketing content, leveraging your creativity, storytelling abilities, exceptional ability to stay organized, and content production expertise to accomplish user growth with a focus on users who understand Mercari’s value proposition. You will lead content production programs to support a variety of company-wide initiatives, including marketing and customer experience campaigns.
You will drive the day-to-day execution of content production, including script development, talent acquisition, talent management, production management, equipment and location management, post-production, and content publishing. This is a highly cross-functional role where you will work closely with leadership and colleagues in Marketing, Communications, Product, People & Culture, and Legal.
You are extremely organized, a self-starter, and you have a proven track-record of producing content for marketing purposes. Ideally candidates will have experience producing content for large ecommerce marketplaces. You are an exceptional communicator and project manager, who can perform well under pressure and time-constraints. You are a creative problem-solver who understands unit economics and can see the big picture. You make insightful suggestions for how to improve our production processes, and you’re capable of implementing rapid changes to production processes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and execute high-impact, strategic original content series to drive user acquisition, high velocity first transactions among newly acquired users, and passionate buy-in to Mercari’s core value proposition of thrift cycling in the US.
- Lead production across multiple series of episodic content, serving as a thought partner to cross-functional colleagues in Marketing, Communications, Product, People & Culture, and Legal.
- Drive content production plans to maximize the acquisition of new users, while increasing the depth of value we deliver to our users.

- Manage post-production to edit our content for multiple surfaces, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, etc.
- Establish and execute on a content publishing calendar
- Drive communications synergy and cohesion, considering all audiences and coordinating across teams to maximize impact.
What you’ll need:
- 5-7 years of experience producing content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram (independent creator, in-house or agency experience).
- Bachelor’s degree in Film & Digital Media, Psychology, Business, or equivalent experience.
- A proven track record of planning and executing large-scale production for original content or paid user acquisition campaigns, ideally for e-commerce platforms.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a knack for storytelling and the ability to translate difficult concepts into simple and compelling messaging for Gen Z audiences.
- Strong relationship building skills and a track-record of working with leadership and cross-functional colleagues in marketing, people & culture, product, legal, engineering, etc.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously; the ability to develop effective communications under time-constraints.
- Experience working in a multinational organization. Tech and/or e-commerce experience is a plus.
Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands.
The expected base salary ranges for this role are below. These ranges may be modified in the future. Zone2**$97,900-$146,900
Zone 3*** $87,000-$130,600
