Location: Hammersmith Campus based at White City
About the role:
The successful research associate will investigate the mechanisms of COPD exacerbations and to identify novel therapeutic targets. You will form part of a multidisciplinary team that will utilise a unique human challenge model, whereby COPD volunteers are experimentally infected with rhinovirus to mimic an exacerbation. In depth analysis of longitudinal blood and airway samples during expeirmental exacerbation will provide unparalleled insight into pathological mechanisms.
What you would be doing:
The successful applicant will be responsible for performing high-parameter conventional and full spectrum flow cytometry, and microbiome analysis in samples acquired from volunteers enrolled within our unique human model of COPD exacerbation and contextualising this analysis within broader clinical and multiomics datasets.
What we are looking for:
- Knowledge of inflammation biology and immunology, ideally within the context of the respiratory system.
- Experience of working with human blood and/or airway samples.
- Extensive experience in high parameter flow cytometry analysis.
- Experience in molecular techniques and analysis of microbial/immune datasets.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills.
