Job Summary
This position serves as the primary contact for planning and development of the College of Arts and Sciences website and is responsible for ensuring the website intuitive and easy to use for site visitors. Additionally, this position:
Creates web pages to provide information to end users and to promote college programs and activities. Translates project requirements into smooth interactive user journeys and UI designs. Supervises other web designers. Leads meetings with college stakeholders through all phases of a project, presenting and communicating design decisions using testing data and UX best practices. Ensures all designs adhere to the university’s accessibility policy and brand standards. Responsible for page redesigns and overseeing web updates.
Serves as liaison with OSU Brand Management’s web team and OSU IT for technical support. Works with colleagues within the Marketing and Communications unit to promote and publicize the college’s programs and activities, prioritizing recruitment, retention and reputation management. Serves as the individual to consult with departmental members that are faced with challenging web design needs. Advocates for user-centered design in all products and exhibit an excellent attention to quality and detail.
Demonstrates self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in finding new opportunities to showcase the College of Arts and Sciences. Provides support to the Associate Dean and Director of Outreach and Communications and provides recommendations for new technologies where applicable.
There is occasional night and weekend work that is required.

Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and four years experience in web design for digital platforms
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and CSS. Demonstrate strong design sense and attention to detail with emphasis on user experience design. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in front-end web design including mobile-first, responsive design, accessibility and UI/UX. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work with a team and lead projects to success. Show interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Responsible and capable of meeting tight deadlines. Ability to learn new software programs, internet-based systems and adapt to a face-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five years related experience. We highly value candidates with proficiency in photography. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for visual composition, an understanding of lighting techniques, and the ability to capture compelling images that enhance the overall aesthetic of web design projects. Proficiency in using photography equipment and software, as well as an appreciation for current trends in visual storytelling, will set candidates apart.
