Job Description
Student Learning Development Tutor – an excellent opportunity to join Birkbeck’s cross-college Student Learning Development Team and play a lead role in the design and delivery of activities to support the retention and attainment of students with a particular focus on students in the Faculty of Business and Law.
You will be responsible for supporting students to develop the academic skills they require to approach their studies effectively. You will design and deliver both in-person and online learning development sessions and digital resources aimed at supporting student retention and raising attainment.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine working closely with senior colleagues in the Faculty of Business and Law to meet the needs of their students while playing a key role in the implementation of Birkbeck’s Learning Development Strategy for all students.
To be successful in this role, you will be educated to degree level with an excellent knowledge and understanding of academic skills and student support in higher education.
You will be an experienced educator with a commitment to improving and promoting equality and diversity in the College, and have an ability to relate well to a diverse body of students, particularly mature students from different educational backgrounds.
Salary £42,365 rising to £48,424 per annum – Grade 7 of the College’s London Pay Scale. The salary is on the College’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
