About the Role
We are recruiting for one Student Support Officer who will provide high-quality support, advice, and guidance to students. The post holder will contribute to the smooth running and development of the Student Academic and Pastoral Support office and student support functions. The role involves significant contact with students, academic and professional staff and will lead on supporting students showing any cause for concern. (Whilst this is a pastoral role, it is not a counselling position.)

About You
The candidate should have a degree or equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience. Further educational or professional qualifications e.g., Mental Health First Aid, coaching, advice and guidance would be desirable. Substantial experience working within established regulations, supporting students with pastoral issues in a range of formats, and working within a confidential environment. The post holder will be quick learners, able to assimilate and retain information to be able to advise students on relevant policies and procedures. A knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes, and issues relevant to student support, including an awareness of relevant current advice and guidance is essential.

The Institute for Health Sciences Education (IHSE), is one of seven Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine, delivering the faculty’s undergraduate and Masters’ level degree courses in medicine, healthcare and medical education programmes. Together with community organizations, NHS partner trusts and external healthcare regulators and advisory bodies, we provide an innovative, forward-thinking and responsive curriculum to our passionate and diverse student body.
