Job Summary

The Technical and Professional Communication Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing a wide range of communications for the Center for Integrated Professional Development (CIPD) ensuring a consistent messaging about teaching and learning initiatives across the University community. This individual creates concise narratives and compelling stories designed to engage diverse audiences (e.g., faculty, staff, administrators) in meaningful ways across a variety of platforms ensuring that content is consistent, current, professional, accurate, and in line with the University brand.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$3,819 – $4,168 per month, combined with an excellent benefits package

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Communication, English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
  2. Twelve months of experience writing for different media (i.e., website, social media, mass communication)
  3. Outstanding writing skills
  4. Strong editing and proofreading skills
  5. Demonstrated history of successful collaboration in professional settings
  6. Strong team-membership and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in English, Communication, English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
  2. At least one year of professional experience working in converged media (traditional, new, and social) communication environments
  3. Experience working with college-level faculty and/or students in professional or mentoring relationships
  4. Strong interest in collaboration with other campus units and individuals
  5. Interest in learning about the use of new technologies for communication and instructional purposes

Work Hours

Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
  2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
