Job Description


The Faculty of Business Administration is committed to excellence and relevance in its teaching, research and community engagement. Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position in Entrepreneurship at the rank of assistant professor with a proposed commencement date of July 1, 2024. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants should have or be very near completion of a PhD or DBA, have demonstrated research productivity commensurate with the rank, and have a commitment to teaching and research in a university environment. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and conduct research in the broader area of entrepreneurship (topics related to, but not limited to, entrepreneurship and small business development, entrepreneurship policy, entrepreneurship development, innovation and commercialization, new venture creation, social entrepreneurship, family business and succession planning). Applicants with teaching or research interests in general management are particularly encouraged to apply. Small and medium enterprises are a vital part of the economy of Newfoundland and Labrador; thus, opportunities exist to work collaboratively and be supported by provincial and federal government programs and other Memorial University units, such as the Genesis Centre, a campus incubation facility that assists local start-up technology companies in the early stages of development and growth, and the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, which is a key driver of innovation in the province.

If the successful candidate has not completed an earned doctorate, they shall be appointed to a regular term, non­renewable three-year appointment at the rank of assistant professor. If the candidate completes all the requirements for the doctorate during the first 24 months of the term appointment, they shall begin a tenure-track appointment following completion of the requirements of the degree.

The Faculty of Business Administration is a leader in management education and is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Approximately 2,100 students are registered in the undergraduate programs of the Faculty, with another 200 students completing graduate programs, including a PhD, an MBA, an MBA in Social Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and an MSc in Management.
