TRANSIT SERVICE TECHNICIAN
(Temporary, Full-Time)

The West Vancouver Transit Department has an immediate opening for a Temporary Full-time Transit Service Technician. Reporting to the Transit Maintenance Manager, this position will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the West Vancouver Transit Bus Fleet and maintaining the integrity and safety of the vehicles in compliance with the Preventative Maintenance Program. Duties include: checking engine and fluid levels; daily fueling; cleaning the inside and outside of buses; changing buses on the road; steam cleaning; performing major interior cleaning of buses; checking buses for unreported damage; providing basic assistance to mechanics; and other duties as required.
The preferred candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude; the ability to operate automated cleaning equipment; the ability to work both as part of a team and individually with minimal supervision; the willingness to work a variety of shifts; and the ability to meet deadlines.
The successful candidate has completed a Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent, has twelve months prior experience in a related field, and holds a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsement.
During the assessment process, successful candidates will be required to submit an acceptable Driver’s Abstract from ICBC.
The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.
Position Status:
Union (ATU) – Temporary, Full-time
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week
The current shift schedule for this position is an evening/night shift from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with two consecutive days off.
Hours and days of work may vary according to operational requirements.
Rate of Pay:
$34.01 per hour+ $1.95 per hour shift differential (shift differential is based on the current shift schedule)
