Utilities Engineer
Temporary Full Time

We are looking for a Temporary Full Time (one year assignment) Utilities Engineer to join our Engineering, Parks and Environment Department. As the Utilities Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Planning and Design team. The Planning and Design team is responsible for the planning, budgeting, design, delivery and management of the City’s water distribution system, sanitary collection system, and drainage infrastructure. The City of North Vancouver is a compact and complete community with a range of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional utility users and an active land development environment.
The Utilities Engineer will be involved in a broad range of utilities management, including:
- Annual utility planning and budgeting,
- Reviewing development applications for utility servicing,
- Coordinating with other City teams regarding utility implications to capital projects.
- Designing utility projects and coordinating with City design technicians,
- Working with external engineering consultants,
- Project construction delivery including tendering and contract management,
- Overseeing utility management projects, and,
- Ongoing asset management activities related to Utilities.
The City is seeking a versatile and motivated individual who is well-suited to the broad range of work encountered in a small municipal setting. The successful candidate ideally has experience in utility design and construction, contract administration, and has had exposure to integrated storm water management and implementation of storm water source controls, management of gravity pipe systems including condition assessment, and inflow and infiltration reduction programs.
You have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, are registered or eligible for registration with EGBC and have a minimum of three years’ experience in the field of utilities design, construction, or management. Some exposure to utility planning models or other hydraulic modelling, and AutoDesk CAD and ESRI GIS applications is desirable. A Class 5 BC driver’s license is also required.

We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $119,964 to $141,132 annually (2024 rates).
