Job
Summary

The Web Designer designs and develops websites, landing pages, and integrates third-party
solutions within Drupal, the campus’s primary content management system. 

Essential
Functions

  • Designs and builds websites in Drupal, being specifically responsible for the
    theming/front-end design while incorporating a solid understanding of the administrative interface. 
  • Creates websites for the
    University and campus partners following an established web development process, including discovery, analysis, design, development, and
    deployment. 
  • Works with University partners to develop new site maps, wireframes, and web page designs that meet their goals while
    adhering to the University’s brand standards. 
  • Creates rich web experiences following best practices and web content accessibility
    guidelines. 
  • Reviews peer and third-party websites for branding and accessibility issues. 
  • Designs responsive websites
    that maximize search engine optimization, cross-platform rendering, and mobile first-page loading performance. 
  • Demonstrates a
    multicultural awareness and contributes to cultivating an inclusive and respectful university community. 


Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required to
    meet department, executive area/division, and University goals and objectives. 

Minimum
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years’ experience in designing, building, and implementing websites. 
  • Working knowledge of HTML
    and CSS best practices for site design and development. 
  • Self-motivated and ability to work well in an agile, small team
    environment. 
  • Customer-service oriented. 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge,
Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • A mix of public or private
    industry, higher-education, and nonprofit experience. 
  • Experience with modern collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom,
    SharePoint, Wrike, or Basecamp. 
  • Experience working with PHP, JavaScript, and jQuery. 
  • Experience with usability testing
    for websites. 
  • Experience with Git version control software. 

Physical
Demands/Working Conditions

Typical office environment.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday,
    8:30 am-5:00pm. 
  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement
    where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position
    falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining
    agreement.
