Position Summary
The primary role of this hybrid
remote position is to oversee the daily operations of the University’s public-facing website. This includes responsibilities such as
creating and launching new websites and pages, managing the “web help” ticket system to support campus clients in their web development
efforts and collaborating closely with the director of web and digital marketing to establish consistent layout design standards and
innovative web strategies. Additionally, ensuring compliance with WCG3 accessibility standards for the website will be a key
focus.
Education Required
Bachelor’s Degree in communication, marketing, public relations, or related
field with considerable emphasis in web design/management.
Experience Required
3 years of experience in
web design/management and web site operations and authoring
Skills, Characteristics Required for Position
- The candidate must have a working knowledge of WCG3 for website accessibility standards and implement them / train CMS users on best
practices. - Proven experience in current web technology including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Photoshop.
- Demonstrated ability
to conduct effective training sessions and communicate technical information clearly to campus users. - A strong understanding of SEO
principles and practices. The ability to implement SEO strategies effectively will contribute to enhancing Messiah University’s online
presence and reach. - Ability to utilize web analytics data to evaluate website performance, track user behavior, and make data-driven
recommendations for continuous improvement. - Strong understanding of techniques for improving user experience (UX) and user interface
(UI). - Excellent project management and project planning skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under
deadlines. - Must have excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills; ability to relate to a broad range of
internal and external audiences and leverage resources and gain cooperation across multiple departments - Must be a creative problem
solver and have ability to think and work strategically and collaboratively - Excellent team building skills
Special Working Conditions
This position is an “on call” position in the event of a campus emergency that would
require information to be posted on the university’s externally-facing website.

Primary
Duties
- Administer the University’s content management system (currently Jadu CMS), including the configuration and
maintenance of the system and training of users. - Managing the “web help” ticket system where campus clients submit tickets to
receive help with their website/CMS. - Oversee and expand the knowledge base website, where CMS users can access video and text-based
tutorials for updating and managing their websites. - Meet with campus clients to identify web site/ page goals and requirements,
develop project plans and oversee project timelines. - Help develop and oversee the public-facing website’s architecture and design
standards. - Help develop short- and long-term strategies, goals, and objectives for the University’s website.
- Design/layout
web pages or act as a layout design consultant for web pages for a variety of campus offices, departments, and programs. - Recommend,
communicate, and ensure compliance with policies, practices, procedures, and standards for the University’s externally facing web
site. - Manages the website governance tool responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of our website by identifying and addressing
issues such as broken links, 404 errors, accessibility concerns, and pages that don’t follow SEO best
practices.
Secondary Duties
1. May serve on a variety of web, communication, and marketing related
committees and task forces.
2. May be called upon to make web-related presentations.
