JOB TITLE:  

Website Coordinator, University of Wyoming Libraries 

JOB PURPOSE:  

Coordinate, develop, enhance, modify, and maintain websites and other digital marketing platforms for the University of Wyoming Libraries. Gather information from multiple sources and publish information on designated webpages using the University’s content management system (CMS) and third-party websites/platforms. Work with and assist UW Libraries website site authors in maintaining content. Manage and oversee UW Libraries website structure and strategically plan website additions. Identify and implement enhanced content opportunities to enhance the overall user experience using best practices in universal design principles and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Assist with digital marketing production, including website-optimized graphics, writing, and other necessary assets to help create a positive experience for website end users. Analyze and document search engine optimization for UW Libraries websites to evaluate the effectiveness of these platforms.

Reports To: UW Libraries’ Marketing & Communications Specialist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coordinate and gather information and content for website management. 
  • Write copy for and build webpages consistent with the UW and UW Libraries brand, website content strategies and usability. 
  • Understand and implement best practices for Search Engine Management (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and utilize knowledge within the UW Libraries website by identifying top keywords and phrases. 
  • Use Google Analytics and other web analytics software and tools, analyze website performance and identify optimization opportunities to serve intended audiences better. 
  • Understand and implement best practices and accessibility compliance on web pages as set forth by the American Disability Association (ADA) to ensure equitable access for all website users. 
  • Understand and implement universal design principles, including but not limited to user-centered design, consistent navigation, compatibility with assistive technologies and mobile devices, content prioritization, etc.  
  • Plan, design, develop, test, edit, maintain, and document look and flow of websites. Utilize web-based software tools for managing web content.  
  • Manage and maintain third-party websites and platforms as directed.  
  • Use HTML and CSS to help troubleshoot source code errors and content embedding functionality. 
  • Work with supervisor, UW Libraries site authors, Information Technology, and Institutional Marketing web team as needed. 
  • Ensure all UW Libraries third-party platforms meet the University of Wyoming brand standards. 
  • Communicate with users to incorporate user needs and changes to correct problem situations. 
  • Design and optimize images and other graphics within the UW brand standards to enhance the website’s appearance, including third-party platforms. 
  • Create reports and analysis recommendations using various software tools that support the UW Libraries web and digital marketing strategies.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Assist in website upgrades, design improvements and site content migrations. 
  • Write documentation for support of website coordination and site management. 
  • Educate and work with UW Libraries site authors on website management best practices. 
  • Solicit feedback from website end users and patrons for website updates to enhance end-user experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of work and experience. 

Experience: 1 year of work-related experience, including internship experience(s).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • One (1) year of website design, development, and administration experience  
  • Demonstrated understanding of HTML and/or CSS 
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including experience with search engine optimization 
  • Experience and/or knowledge of photo editing and graphic design  
  • Knowledge or understanding of basic photography/videography skills 
  • Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office applications, or other related programs
