Position Summary and Qualifications:
The Website Specialist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing all Saint Joseph’s University external websites including the main website SJU.edu, schools, colleges, academic departments, administrative offices, and all other University websites. Working collaboratively with the Office of Marketing and Communications (MarComm), Enrollment Management, and other areas at Saint Joseph’s, this role will ensure websites are up-to-date, accurate, consistent with institutional brand messaging, SEO optimized, and ADA compliant. This role will collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content is relevant and high-performing in coordination with the content, enrollment, and marketing teams.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the University’s ticketing system for all updates and enhancements to website content on Saint Joseph’s sju.edu and other institutional websites.
  • Conduct and manage the trainings and resources for campus community users for the University’s Content Management System (CMS).
  • Manage updates and enhancements of the University Directory.
  • Contribute to the University’s efforts to continually enhance website content, design, usability, and navigation, establish and maintain web standards, and employ best practices in web development-all in service of enhancing reputation, enrollment, and engagement.
  • Elevate standards and compliance with University best practices using tools such as Siteimprove and the University’s CMS.
  • Maintain university web standards and employ best practices in website content management systems.
  • Work directly with other departments on content assets (images, program information, marketing information, etc.) and coordinate the production and optimization of content.
  • Establishes and maintains a well-organized, user-friendly information architecture that presents a consistent enterprise look and feel compliant with brand standards.
  • Leverage analytics tools (e.g., Search Console, Google Analytics, Tag Manager) to identify technical and content issues and suggest shifts and changes.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and mandates, including WCAG and ADA web accessibility standards.
  • Steward Saint Joseph’s brand to maintain the tone, style, and identity across the website, including image/content optimization.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with testing the website for weekly and ad-hoc code push.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities to contribute to the overall success of the Office of Marketing and Communications and Saint Joseph’s University.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, computer science, web design, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and expertise.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience working on large, complex websites utilizing CMS such as Drupal and WordPress. Experience with Drupal, WordPress sites or similar content management systems is a MUST. Candidates without CMS experience need not apply.

  • Practical experience and application of SEO best practices.
  • Incredible attention to detail and focus on the quality control approval process.
  • Writing, organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills for interacting with multiple constituencies in a consensus-based environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Web design and/or development experience in multiple applications.
  • Google Analytics proficiency and/or certification.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge and experience with search engine optimization and utilization of SEO tools to enhance websites.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

  • May require long periods of time spent in front of a computer.
  • Weekend and after-hours work may also be required.
