Job Description


JOB SUMMARY
Works cooperatively and in alignment with the System and the System Communications Office, but is responsible for the
planning, design, and production of all collateral materials and social media for the College, including regular publications for internal
College audiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the planning, direction and coordination of all aspects of the
College’s Marketing and Communications activities, including creative direction, objectives, and marketing initiatives, in coordination and
in support of System Communications objectives and strategies and development of a comprehensive marketing strategy, representing the
College and System in the most positive light.

Work cooperatively and in alignment with the System and the System Communications
Office, but is responsible for the planning, design, and production of all collateral materials for the College, including regular
publications for internal College audiences.

Work with College President to develop College-specific marketing programs to create
brand identity for College.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of relationships with key media reporters, including
editors, managers, newspapers, community relations personnel, technicians and staff.

Work with local community media, including
minority media to promote and advertise activities, offerings and successes of the College.

This includes the submittal of two
feature stories monthly for local production, the submittal of two releases with photos of College activities and events, and weekly
submittals of announcements of events and new briefs on College-specific activities.

Act as College spokesperson, under the direction
of the College President and within the standards of the System for media communications.

Work with appropriate College personnel in
developing promotional materials; including obtaining required information and photography to go into the materials.

Ensure all
College material meets graphic and message standards of the System.

Responsible for speech writing and special events as directed by
the College President.

This includes the management and coordination of all external College activities with submission of a monthly
report to the College President.

Supervise the work of the Community Outreach Coordinator at the College.

Supervise
composition and maintenance of a list of community leaders and groups, and media personnel.

Provide support to the Board by
developing public relations materials on priority issues.

Prepare quarterly evaluations of the College’s communications, marketing
and public relations with recommendations to President and Associate Vice Chancellor.

Meet regularly with the Associate Vice
Chancellor for Communications and Directors Communication Services from other Colleges to discuss initiatives, collateral material
development, and other issues related to marketing for individual Colleges and the System.

Perform other duties, tasks and
assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations,
    Communications, Public Affairs or a related field required
  • 5 years experience in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications,
    Public Affairs, or a similar field required
  • Experience in writing and publishing feature stories and news releases
    preferred

Licensing & Certification

  • Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to
perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up
to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve
information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include
weekends and holidays.
