Position Summary/Purpose of Position
This position will be working with the latest open source web technologies and software development process to meet the growing complex
information needs of the College. This position is hands-on and works collaboratively with the development team and users, as well as
independently, and serves as the lead front end developer for the team. The qualified candidate should demonstrate strong web application
frontend development ability in HTML, CSS, DOM, and JavaScript; expert knowledge in browser compatibility issues; responsive and mobile
first design concept; and best practices in front end design and implementation including accessibility issues.
Minimum
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Experience
- Minimum of three years of web and application development in PHP,
JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and MySQL required - Experience in leading some or all of the frontend components for a web-based website or
application projects including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance - Experience with at least one
open-source content management systems such as Drupal or WordPress. - Experience with at least one version control system such as
GIT. - Experience in unit testing implementation; and working in local, development, staging and production environments
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and
workarounds - Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for identifying, locating, and fixing errors and defects in software code,
as well as preventing the same errors from happening in the future.. - Strong analytical skills for thinking logically, critically,
and creatively in solving problems. - Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to translate
user requirements into actionable tasks - Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team
- Self-starter who
enjoys taking on new challenges and problem solving, highly motivated and enjoys learning and adapting new web technologies - Detail
oriented, organized and demonstrate the ability to produce top quality software
Preferences
- Degree in computer science, information technology or related-field preferred.
- Experience or knowledge with some of the
following topics are highly desirable:- Drupal 7+, preferably Drupal 10
- Drupal theming and module development
- Twig
- Angular.js, React.js
- Mobile App Development
- VR Development
- npm, webpack, node
- CSS
preprocessor such as Sass, Less - Atlassian Suites – JIRA/Confluence/Bitbucket
- Mobile and/or responsive design
- REST architecture
- JSON
- UNIX/Linux
Additional Information
- Salary: $80k – $100k commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Candidates must be able to provide proof of
eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position. - The University also offers a comprehensive
