Job Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree in communications, journalism, English or related field.
  • 2-5 years communications experience,
    demonstrating excellent web-based content management and writing skills, accuracy, and demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated proficient graphics design experience to develop graphics, templates and imagery.
  • Proficient with MS Office
    Suite-Proficient (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) with Adobe Suite
  • Excellent organizational, coordination and communications skills,
    with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in role.
  • Demonstrated collegiate and collaborative
    approach.

Job Summary

Develops moderately complex web and
print content and marketing. Acts as strategic contributor for communications team and creates diverse marketing materials for marketing
team. Attends meetings designed for content planning and development. Ensures consistent messaging and maintains University brand and
style.


Essential Functions

Reporting to Business and Operations’ Executive Director of
Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the
development and execution of marketing and communications that will synergistically strengthen the visibility and impact of strategic plans,
programs, initiatives, and personnel centered on campus development,
primarily supporting Planning, Design and
Construction
and assisting with other units at the University of Pittsburgh as
requested
, both internally and externally. This dynamic role requires expertise including brand management,
marketing and communications planning, copywriting and design skills across communication channels, demonstrating professionalism with tact
and diplomacy to maintain a service-oriented, collaborative environment with team members.

Duties
associated with this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides moderately complex content and marketing
    development for web and print media

including, but not limited to, writing, editing, research, web graphics and templates, social
media,
signs and banners, emails, reports, templates, and other print and communications collateral.

  • Serves as a strategic
    contributor for communications team in content creation, ensuring design

and branding consistency.

  • Supports marketing team
    in producing and editing high-quality marketing materials, including

promotions, advertising, and publicity, ensuring high-quality
content.

  • Maintains and updates applicable databases in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Supports events and promotions,
    including vendor contact, interfacing with clients and designers

as needed, developing materials, and milestone
deliverables.

  • Works collaboratively and effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs), creative teams, and

University
departments to ensure high-quality content is delivered. Modifies messaging according
to the target audience, communication goals, and
communication channels employed.

  • Provides guidance to other staff as directed.
  • Attends unit-specific events and meetings
    to support and spearhead message planning and

content development in alignment with the University’s goals and
priorities.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Physical
Effort

Incumbent must be able to travel across campus to meetings. Sedentary position.
