The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. NVRC offers a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic Recreation Programmer I to join our team.

We are hiring for the following positions: two (2) regular full-time and one (1) regular part-time Recreation Programmer I.
 
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
You will assist with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a variety of community-based recreation, social and cultural programs. You may also have responsibility for the planning and implementation of smaller programs under guidance. You will participate in recruiting, training and evaluating instructors; promote interest and participation in programs and provide customer service to patrons and the public.
 
ABOUT YOU
You have sound knowledge of community recreation principles, practices, interests and resources; working knowledge of indoor/outdoor sports, fitness, health & wellness, social activities, crafts, arts and other pursuits related to our programs; the ability to plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and recommend changes to programs; the ability to recruit, train and evaluate instructors; and the ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by post-secondary courses on track to obtaining a Recreation Management certificate, diploma or degree, plus related experience.
 
A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for NVRC business.
 
All employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment.
 
HOURLY RATES & BENEFITS:
The regular full-time position, working 35 hours per week including weekends, days or evenings based on operational needs. The pay for this unionized position ranges from $31.97 – 37.58 per hour (2024 rates). Comprehensive benefits include dental, extended health, and life insurance coverage, paid annual vacation, opportunity to participate in an earned day off program, participation in the Municipal Pension Plan, and access to an Employee Family Assistance Program.
 
The regular part-time position, working 21 hours per week including weekends, days or evenings based on operational needs, with the option to pick up additional shifts. The pay for this unionized position ranges from $31.97 – 37.58 per hour (2024 rates), plus 10% in lieu. Comprehensive benefits include dental, extended health, and life insurance coverage, participation in the Municipal Pension Plan upon eligibility, and access to an Employee Family Assistance Program.
