ABOUT YOU:
You value the importance of collecting, assembling and analyzing data from internal and external sources to make the best recommendations for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the delivery of recreation programs and services to the community. You like to think outside the box and participate in planning discussions to identify areas of improvement and efficiencies in program development and design that fit within the mandate and vision of the NVRC. You excel working in a team environment and are just as comfortable working independently.

YOU HAVE:

  • Considerable knowledge of the recreational, social and cultural interests, requirements and resources of the area served.
  • Considerable knowledge of organized community recreation principles and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of methods, policies and procedures applicable to the work.
  • Sound knowledge of all aspects of recreation programming including sport, children and youth, seniors, fitness and aquatics, among others.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Direct experience working with staff teams, volunteers, and community organizations in planning for services.
  • A high level of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Proficiency with Recreation registration software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
College or University graduation with courses in leisure and recreation, or related subjects, supplemented by some related work experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a recreational environment where principles of community development and engagement drive the delivery of leisure and recreation services. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for NVRC business.
 
This is a regular full-time position, involving shift work including days, evenings and weekends for 35 hours per week. Employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates must submit a Police Information Check prior to any appointment.
 
HOURLY RATES:
The pay for this unionized position starts at $36.08 and ranges to $42.45 per hour.
