Recreation Services Coordinator

Bookings and Programming Lead

The Town of Golden Recreation Department is seeking a candidate who loves a diverse work environment and is looking for ways to grow a career in the Recreation Sector. The position includes leading bookings, programming, and enhancement projects in our three recreation facilities and sports fields (Outdoor swimming pool, community gymnasium, and arena). Your teammates consist of our Aquatics Recreation Coordinator (parallel position), a Recreation Programs Lead, 5+ recreation clerks and 15+ seasonal lifeguards, guided by the Director of Recreation Services. This is a full-time, year-round, position.
 
Key responsibilities include:

  • Recreation software (Amilia) administrator and expert
    • Set up sales system rates, fees, and program registration.
    • Facility bookings for various rental groups.
  • Provide leadership on our various kids’ programs, including:
    • Kids after-school programming during the school season.
    • Hiring, planning & overseeing summer camps with seasonal staff.
  • Oversight and development of various drop-in programs:
    • Rec-Plex Gymnasium (court sports), Arena Ice-Pad and other multi-purpose spaces.
    • Programming experience with Aquatics and Fitness is also desired.
  • Help keep the staff team organized as the scheduling lead (year-round) and host various training and team-building events.
  • Provide support to the summer aquatics team through planning, organizing and teaching lessons & lifeguard courses.
  • Support the Director of Recreation Services through assistance with various staff reports, facility user statistics collection, policy development and program development.

 
To do all of this, we need you to be a solid team player, communicator, and a positive influence in our organization, committed to providing enthusiastic service and support to the public.   
 
Baseline qualifications include exceptional administrative skills on the various Microsoft platforms, experience with online registration platforms, a recreation or health field diploma, past coaching or people management experience, and relevant First Aid certifications. Priority will be given if you have an aquatics background, hold existing certifications and are willing to obtain higher-level certificates to lead future certification courses.  
 
This position is designated within the CUPE Local 2309 bargaining unit with a starting wage of $32.64, a five-step wage progression path and a great benefits package. Exceptional accreditations and experience may qualify for a higher starting wage.
